4.17 Update – Pictures and … Flickr?

That’s right people … Flickr. If you never heard of it, it’s a website owned by Yahoo, where people are able to upload and share pictures. I went ahead and created a private account that I will share with anyone interseted in downloading hi-res images of Calvin and Family. But there is a catch. Because the internet is a scary and unprodictable frontier, you will have to follow a few steps to aquire said pictures, which I will post at the bottom of this article. I tried hard to find a system that didn’t involve a lot of money, software to install, or strange unpredictable sites. So this was the best of the best.

If you are not interested in downloading pictures there are some new ones to view in Calvin’s Gallery.

So, on to the steps to aquire printable pictures. (Note: Click on the pictures to zoom in)

1 ) You must contact me by clicking the Contact Us tab up top, and fill out the form.

2 )I will use your e-mail to send you a link to begin the sign-in or sign up process at Flickr.

3 )When you recieve your e-mail click on the link provided.

4 ) For people who are new, this instruction pertains to you. If you already have a yahoo account I believe you can skip to Step 11), but I could be wrong since I didn’t get a chance to test that process. When you click the link you will be taken to This Flickr page. Click the “Create a New Yahoo Account”

5 ) Fill out this form and hit “Create Account”

6 ) Approve your info and click “Continue”

7 ) Now type in your new password

8 ) Create a Flickr Name. Basically this can be your name, a nickname or a screen name (ex.AwesomeSauce27).

9 ) I believe this screen will appear next. Click on “Read The Community Guidelines”

10 ) When this page appears, feel free to ignore what is being said. From here click “You”

11 ) You should now see some thumbnails of my pictures (my screen name is dante x777).

Underneath the pictures click “Dante X777″

12 ) Next click on any of the pictures or Click on “Sets” to see a list of albums.

13 ) When viewing a picture click on the magnifying glass that says “All Sizes”

14 ) Choose large or original size then click “Download” and BOOM! There you go.

Then from now on you will log into Flickr.com and you can repeat

Our Life + Facebook = Synergy

That’s right folks! With the powers of WordPress (the software to design this wonderful site) and Facebook, joined together, it allows us to pester people on multiple ends of the internet universe with random pictures of Calvin staring at the camera, Calvin staring at people, and Calvin staring at random objects. You’ll be amazed at how many things he can look at, and never do anything else (for now).

“But what does mean for me, the reader? ”

Well, nothing really, other then what I post on the website will autoload on Facebook. Amazing, no? So that means endless posts about all the cute things Calvin is doing! Ad Nauseam! FOREVER!!!! That is unless you Facebook people click the Hide Button and live in your Calvin-less world as you farm virtual plants. We understand though, and will have no ill will towards you or your soul Although Calvin may grow to become bitter in the loveless world you have created for him. Kidding

… maybe.

Gallery Updated 3/17/10

Finally got some pictures up for everyone to see in Calvin’s Gallery. In the gallery you’ll see new pictures of Calvin with his family and friends. It’s a good thing he enjoys the company or I don’t know what we would do. And thanks to all the help, food and company many of you provided. And to everyone else, thank you for the comments, thoughts and prayers. Any form of help, physical, verbal, or spiritual is always welcomed.

For future ideas, I am looking into some ways to give everyone access to the hi-res files of images I place here. I found a few options, and once I pick something I’ll notify everyone on here, as well as give instructions to the “computer-impaired” people (I’m looking at you mom).

Also, if your image is up and you may be a little embarrassed to have it shown to the 10ish people that stop by, let me know and I’ll remove it. No one has said anything yet, but if any of you are like my wife, you like to keep most (if not all) images of yourself private. heh. Just shoot me an e-mail.

Calvin’s Birth Video

Well, it’s not the actual full birth scene. If I was to record that you would have seen the camera drop to the ground and nurses running to my aid. Instead, this is the moment Calvin was brought over to the heating table, after he was born. In other words, more cute baby and less gore. Also this is the SRS friendly version of this video. For the awesome extended version, we will have to be present to show you … after we search you for any wire taps and hidden cameras.

Also don’t forget to stop by Calvin’s Gallery every now and then to see new photos of him doing baby stuff. Exciting!

World, meet Calvin. Calvin, meet the world.

So here he is world! After 9 months of waiting, worrying, hoping that everything will be alright, he arrives, healthy, strong, and beautiful. But he didn’t come to us without a fight. We arrived at the hospital around Feb 25th around 8:00 pm. Christine received her first cervadil induction late that evening in hopes to losen the cervix, and a dose of pitocin to help induce labor. Next afternoon, after frequent visits from nurses during the night (Calvin kept avoiding the heart monitor, which meant it had to be readjusted by the nurse to find him) and little sleep…

No dilation.

She did have contractions, Calvin’s heart was steady (when they found it) but nothing. So we decided that evening on the 26th to repeat the process and hope for the best. Same induction was given, Calvin would dodge the heart monitor, little sleep was to be had, small contractions …

That afternoon, .5 dilation.

So the doctor gave us 2 choices, c-section or another round of induction. Seeing as how Calvin wasn’t even affected by the contractions, we knew that he wasn’t coming out naturally.

1:30 pm Calvin was born at 9.1 lbs and 19 1/2 inches. He cried a little, but he seemed more annoyed that he was pulled from his warm cozy womb.

On March 2nd 2:00 pm he finally came home with his two very happy, but very tired parents.

And so a new adventure, and life, begins today, and we couldn’t be more happy and blessed to raise such a precious child as Calvin Baird Snyder.

His Room is Finally Complete.

Rev. George Baird Snyder 1913-2010

I am sad to post that my last living grandparent, Rev. George Snyder, past away last week. He left this world with an amazing past and long and marvelous trail behind him. Even on his way out of this current life he still managed to reach out to those in need of guidance and faith. Truly he was a blessed and skilled man. Even with his strong faith and wonderful past, he feared that he would never make it to heaven. If that’s true, then as stated by one of my cousin’s who was with him at the time, if he won’t make it then there would be no hope for any of us. But we all believe he has moved onto a better and purer life, where he is once again with his wife, and experiencing joy far greater then finding the purest diamond or a journey more remarkable then any of his trips in the past. I’ll miss the long and deep conversations about faith, his past and philosophy. I’ll miss his ability to retain a magnificent amount of knowledge. But what I will truly miss is the chance that he never got to hold our son, or any future child of ours. But I believe he is with us by our side, nagging at us from the sidelines at our stupid human mistakes, and pleased when we manage to succeed. Christine and I will miss you Grandpa, but only temporarily.

It’s A Boy!

Introducing to the world …. or the 7 people that come to this site, Calvin Baird Snyder. He is 9 oz. and in good condition so far. It took a lot of patience, and some poking for Calvin to finally give up the mystery of what he was. Even at 4 months he is acting up. I guess it’s time to pick out the time out corner and a nice chair (or beanbag).

Car Accident

Christine's Car Accident

So Christine was in a minor accident on August 13. When I arrived she was fine, but shaken, as to be expected. After we talked to the officers, and the car was towed, we took her down to the E.R. to make sure the baby was alright. After about 2 hours of waiting, nurses trying to find the heart beat, waiting some more, another nurse came in and was able to locate the heart. We were both very thankful that no one got hurt.
